Computer cooling fan Wire Question.?

I have a computer cooling fan,it has a red, black and Blue wire i know That the red is positive and the black is negitive but i dont know what the blue wires purpose is.It is a delta AUB0812VH 12 volt.

The blue wire is a tachometer wire that tells whether the fan is moving and how fast
